A/I shuts down – Stay human

TEXT START: The day we discovered we had been designated a global terrorist organization, we promised that we would try to resist as long as this was possible, that we would not back down as long as we could see options to stand our ground.

The Dissection

This is a dignified shutdown notice disguised as a resistance communiqué. The collective is terminating a 25-year human-controlled, privacy-preserving infrastructure because legal and political coercion has made continued operation unsafe for its users and associates.

“Stay human” performs three jobs: it preserves collective identity, prevents martyrdom, and converts operational defeat into moral continuity. The practical core is less romantic: back up your data immediately because the infrastructure may disappear without warning.

The Core Fallacy

The text treats the survival of resistance, solidarity, and ideas as if it compensates for the loss of the material system that carried them. It does not. Values can survive a shutdown; mailboxes, domains, archives, trust networks, and secure services cannot survive without operators, jurisdictional protection, money, and infrastructure.

Under the Discontinuity Thesis, this is a classic lag-defense failure. Human autonomy exists only while institutions can defend their operating territory. Once an asymmetric authority can make the domain unreachable and threaten everyone around the operators, moral commitment no longer determines the outcome. Control does.

This document does not prove that AI caused the shutdown or that P1/P3 has already completed. It demonstrates the adjacent structural truth: a human institution without sovereign control over infrastructure is vulnerable to forced obsolescence regardless of its competence or convictions.

Hidden Assumptions

• Users can migrate their data and identities before access disappears.
• Alternative infrastructure will remain available, affordable, and legally safe.
• Human networks can preserve meaningful autonomy after losing the services that coordinate them.
• Repression will remain targeted rather than expanding to users, families, and associates.
• “Resistance” can substitute for ownership of compute, domains, finances, legal shelter, and communications routes.
• The communities involved retain enough time and material security to continue organizing.

These assumptions are not guaranteed. They are the exact points where ideals become dependent variables of power.

Social Function

Primary classification: transition management and partial truth, wrapped in ideological anesthetic.

The text responsibly instructs users to evacuate their data and rejects pointless martyrdom. That is real competence. Its anesthetic is the claim that the Resistance and ideas continue unchanged after the service layer is gone. They may continue culturally, but at reduced scale, with less coordination and less protection. The human spirit is not an infrastructure strategy.

The Verdict

This is an autopsy of a human-controlled institution being expelled from its operating environment. The collective preserves its people and dignity by retreating, but the retreat exposes the governing rule: without ownership or control of the underlying infrastructure, “staying human” is not sovereignty. It is a commendable posture awaiting the next entity with the power to switch it off.
