SOCIAL FUNCTION

Partial truth packaged as transition management and ideological anesthetic. It reassures firms, policymakers, and workers that adaptation remains a sufficient labor-market strategy. The “job transformer” framing keeps ownership and the collapse of productive necessity out of view.

THE VERDICT

The report does not refute the Discontinuity Thesis. It documents hiring around the construction of the machine that can later reduce the need for much of the surrounding workforce. India’s AI-services advantage may delay social death while accelerating mechanical death. The 51,000 surplus is a lag statistic, not a reprieve: transition scaffolding and temporary servitor niches are being mistaken for restoration of the post-WWII employment circuit.
