The partial truth is real: policy analysis improves when assumptions, welfare criteria, uncertainty, and tradeoffs are explicit. The anesthetic is the implied sufficiency of that repair. It frames the central failure as poor discourse and weak analytical hygiene while ignoring the erosion of the economic mechanism that gives policy its mass constituency and fiscal substrate.

This is not necessarily propaganda. It is more respectable and more dangerous: methodological seriousness used to keep attention above the ownership question.

The Verdict

A competent instrument for choosing among climate policies during the lag phase; a non-answer to terminal systemic change. It may reduce intellectual fraud inside the old order, but it does not challenge the order’s death mechanism. Under DT, it is an accurate map of tradeoffs drawn on a landscape whose governing infrastructure is being automated away.
