The partial truth is real: overloaded humans can benefit from explicit budgets, reliable alarms, and lower interaction friction. The anesthetic appears when personal discipline is treated as a defense against structural displacement. It converts anxiety about loss of control into a ritual of control without touching ownership, bargaining power, or the AI systems absorbing the work.

This is not inherently propaganda. It becomes copium when users mistake tighter self-management for protection from obsolescence.

The Verdict

OwnTime is a competent niche utility for the transition period in which humans are still overloaded with work. Its moat is Apple integration and workflow fit, not intelligence, capital, or network control. It does not produce Sovereigns or Servitors; it merely helps the remaining human operator ration attention more cleanly.

As a productivity app, it may survive. As an answer to the collapse of human economic necessity, it is already dead.
