The essay accurately recognizes that AI may expand what mathematics can accomplish and that some human roles will survive around interpretation, direction, verification, and institutional legitimacy. But it uses those niches to obscure the distributional fact: a larger mathematical frontier can coexist with a much smaller human profession. The language of adaptation makes systemic displacement appear to be a personal test of ingenuity. Those who fail are implicitly treated as insufficiently flexible rather than economically redundant.

The essay sees the approaching discontinuity but misidentifies its consequence. It mistakes expanded machine capability for preserved human centrality.

The rest face professional compression as the field’s productive core migrates into systems they do not control.
